Five questions, answered plainly.

How can your firm help my business?

Most business clients come to us at one of three moments: starting something, signing something, or fighting about something. We form companies and draft the agreements that govern them; we negotiate and document contracts, supply and distribution deals, leases and licenses; and when a dispute arises, we represent you in state court, federal court or arbitration.

Many clients use us as their outside counsel: one firm that knows the business and picks up the phone. See our practice areas.

How can you help personal injury victims?

We handle auto accidents, premises liability, product liability and other wrongful-injury claims. Steve Mortimer, who leads this work, spent years as insurance defense counsel, so he knows how insurers evaluate a claim.

We investigate, document your injuries and losses, deal with the insurance companies, and prepare every case as if it may go to trial. Consultations are free, and we work on a contingency fee. More on personal injury.

What should I do after a car accident?
  1. Check for injuries, and call 911 if anyone is hurt.
  2. Stop. Never leave the scene.
  3. Call the police.
  4. Take photos of the vehicles, the road, any injuries and the other driver's documents.
  5. Report the accident to your insurer.
  6. Seek medical attention promptly.
  7. Keep a file of bills, records and notes.
  8. Talk to an attorney before giving a statement.

The full checklist.

Do you give free consultations?

Yes. Call the office at (727) 823-4191 or send us a note, and we will set a time to talk about your situation.

How can I avoid expensive legal costs?

Spend a little early. A contract reviewed before you sign it, an operating agreement written before partners disagree, an estate plan finished before it is needed: each costs a fraction of the dispute it prevents.

Keep your documents organized, put agreements in writing, and call us when something first looks wrong, not after a deadline has passed. A few more ideas are below.

An ounce of prevention.

  1. Put it in writing.Handshake deals are remembered differently by each side. A one-page agreement beats a perfect memory.

  2. Read before you sign, or have us read it.An hour of review costs far less than a year of litigation over a clause nobody noticed.

  3. Keep your company in good order.Annual filings, minutes and separate accounts protect the liability shield you formed the company to get.

  4. Plan your estate while it's easy.Wills and trusts are simplest to make when nothing is urgent, and they keep your family out of court later.

  5. Call early. When a dispute first appears, a letter or a phone call can often settle what a lawsuit would only make more expensive.

Ask us directly.
